Through my passion for preserving nature and addressing global waste recycling issues, I, Yanko Yankov, working under Structure Paintings, utilize found objects and waste materials that are difficult to recycle/ non recyclable in my sustainable art practice.
With a focus on painting, sculpture, objects of art and installation, I work with mixed media and transform these discarded materials into meaningful works of art. Traditional painting couldn't capture and express my aesthetic as I explore unconventional expression through diverse materials, textures, and techniques, often featuring abundant lines that capture the energetic flow of life in the objects I create.
My artistic process is a deeply personal and introspective journey guided by a profound connection to nature, structure, and sustainability. As I touch and explore the materials, I tap into my subconscious, where memories, feelings and visions intertwine. With each found object I encounter, I see beyond its discarded state and envision its potential for transformation.
Through my art, I breathe new life into these materials, giving them a renewed purpose and meaning. By repurposing and upcycling, I challenge the conventional boundaries of art materials and embrace the beauty of sustainability.
Currently, I am preparing for an upcoming exhibition where I continue to explore duality, the beauty in the "ugly", making a point about the negative human impact on the environment and how is that connected. Sometimes the answer is hidden as a form/ appearance, visible reaction, a beautiful "miracle" of nature. One of this processes is called Luminescence.
Looking ahead, Structure Paintings aspires to explore sustainable art further, pushing boundaries and experimenting with new materials and techniques. By constantly seeking unconventional materials and methods, I aim to challenge the notion of what art can be and how it can contribute to a more sustainable and mindful world. By using my art as a platform for raising awareness and inspiring change, Structure Paintings aims to create a dialogue about the importance of sustainability and encourage others to take action in their own lives.
Through my artistic practice, i hope to contribute to a future where waste is minimized and the beauty of nature is preserved for generations to come.
